The New Child Care Subsidy 2018

Getting off to to school on the right foot can make a big difference to a child’s success in later years, but unfortunately more and more children are showing developmental vulnerability when placed in the kindergarten setting. This means they are lacking the skills and ‘readiness’ of one or more of the developmental outcomes – social, emotional, language , cognitive, communication and general knowledge, or physical development. The later you leave your child, the less prepared they will be.  Evidence shows that access to a high quality early learning program in the year before school halves the chance of a child starting school with a developmental vulnerability.

Kindergarten and preschool programs have just become more affordable

From 2 July, the Government’s new Child Care Subsidy offers 36 hours per fortnight of subsidy for children attending a kindergarten or preschool program at a centre-based day care service in the year before school (ie in the year that is 2 years before grade 1 of school) to all families earning less than $350,000 per year. That’s 6 hours per fortnight more than the current level of support from various State/Territory Governments.

This is great news for families during the critical year before school. And even better is that families who are eligible for the new Child Care Subsidy don’t need to meet the new activity test in order to qualify for this subsidy payment. The amount of the subsidy will depend on you and your partner’s combined family income and your child care fees.

The Child Care Subsidy commences on 2 July 2018.

Happy Chinese New Year!!!!

Happy Chinese New Year!!!! ?
Xīn nián kuài lè – Have a Happy New Year!!

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival in modern China, and one of the Lunar New Years in Asia, is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.

Fun fact: Red
Houses are decorated with red couplets, red lanterns, and red paper cuttings; city streets are lit up by red lanterns; and numerous people are dressed in red. This is because red in Chinese culture is the symbol of happiness, wealth and prosperity, and can ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.
