DIWALI HENNA PAINTING 2018

DIWALI HENNA PAINTING

The children got involved in some henna painting (7th of November 2018) celebrating Diwali with their friends.

Learning outcome 2: Children are connected with and contributed to their world ?

What is Diwali?
Diwali is India’s ‘Festival of Light’, a time when people come together to celebrate good conquering evil, light conquering dark. This celebration of new beginnings coincides with the Hindu New Year and the start of the new business year, so there are prayers to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Ganesh, the god of wisdom and luck, for a successful year. It’s the biggest event in the Hindu calendar

Farm Fun!

On the 5th of November 2018, St George staff, children and some beautiful parents visited Calmsley hill city farm.

We had a blast and were able to get involved with alot of educational experiences.

  • We milked a cow – we were able to see where milk comes from and have hands on experience by milking the cow themselves
  • Some of our students bravely went up to participate in the stock whip show
  • We played in the little park together
  • We went in the little animal pen to pat baby lambs, sheep and goats

The children were fantastic and seemed to enjoy their day! Thanks to all the parents who came with us and we hope you all had as much fun as we did!

FREE DENTAL CHECK-UP AT SCHOOL FOR OUR STUDENTS – 11th July 2018

FREE DENTAL CHECK-UP AT SCHOOL FOR OUR STUDENTS

Dear Parents / Guardians.

The Australian government has an initiative for school children to have access to CDBS (Child Dental Benefits Schedule) through Medicare.

We have a fully equipped Mobile Dental Clinic and AHPRA registered dental practitioners coming to our school to conduct dental check-up on the 11th of July and the 20th of July.

The dental treatment and preventative oral health care program is a free of charge for eligible families and students aged between 2-17 years and provides benefits to the child for basic dental services that includes:

* Dental examination

* Dental X-rays

* Fillings & sealants

* Fluoride treatment

* Preventive Oral Care, such as oral hygiene assistance and cleaning of teeth

Early detection of decay and other dental disease is vital in preventing bigger, more painful and expensive problems in the future. Left untreated, dental disease is progressive and will result in greater discomfort and is likely lead to permanent problems, such as tooth loss or lasting pain.

Please take a form and fill it in for your child to have their check up done!
