Orientation

When first placing your child in an education and care setting, we understand it may be a daunting process and parents may feel quite anxious about leaving their child in the care of someone else.  The team at St George are here to help and support the parents and children throughout this time.

At St George Early Learning Centre our orientation process enables children and parents to become familiar with the Centre’s team of educators, and to discuss the child’s individual needs and routines, so your child can feel safe, secure and supported.

Families are encouraged to work alongside our team of educators to gradually help settle their child into care as smooth as possible. We Believe most children settle into a new environment easier if they start with short stays, and build up to whole days.

The Director or Nominated Supervisor will take the children and parents through the orientation process answering any questions and discussing any concerns raised. We encourage the orientation process to begin with the indoor morning session as it provides time for the child to be actively involved with peers in a variety of activities. This session also gives parents an insight into the value of our program.

Educators will telephone you during the day to inform you of your child’s progress during the first couple of weeks or, if you prefer, you can phone us at your earliest convenience.
