Playing an active role in our community:

At St George we believe it is essential to play an active role in our local community by collaborating and creating partnerships through advocating, assisting and thorough planning.St George Early Learning Centre connects with a variety of partners in our Community such as:

  • Local police and fire authorities regularly visit the centre
  • Local Dentists and nurses
  • Local doctor visits
  • Excursions  to Local Primary schools as apart of our school readiness program
  • Munch and move – Munch & Move is NSW Health initiative that supports the healthy development of children birth to 5 years by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced small screen time.
  • The local librarian comes to read books to the children and discuss the facilities you may use in the local library
  • Our local Smithfield RSL member have been coming to our centre to speak about Anzac Day to the children. The children got involved and had a better understanding of what Anzac Day was and meant to others in our community
  • Bulldogs football players teaching the children how to play football

 

 

Regular Incursions we participate in include:

  • Reptile shows
  • Music and movement programs – ‘itty bitty beats’ ‘Fit Kidz’ and African drumming
  • Sports programs such as – ‘Kindy Kickers’
  • Health performances such as ‘Healthy Harold’
  • We have ongoing involvements with our local Aborigines where the children learnt about the Indigenous owners of our land and got involved in dancing, singing and playing, for example ‘the didgeridoo.
  • Cooking and creative arts Incursions such as – Kids love to cook, Magic shows,
